Wednesday, February 27, 2013 - In his book "Adventures on the Wine Route", Kermit Lynch tells about a visit to Jean-Marie Peyraud, then winemaker of Tempier, in 1985. Jean-Marie served him a Rosé, did not show the label, and asked him how old it was. Kermit Lynch guessed at least ten years. Jean-Marie told him : 27 years !
I had last night a bottle of the 2000 Rosé, and man, was I skeptical. A Rosé ? Nearly 13 years old ? Drinkable ?
More than this. Still fresh, deep coloured, fruity with astonishing complexity and lengh for a Rosé. Tempier magic in action !
If there is something out like a "serious" Rosé, than this is it.
