Pinot Noir Los Gansos reserva 2012 Cono Sur

Appearance: The wine is clear and bright, it is pale ruby up the core and a medium widely rim and it shows legs on the glass.

Nose: The wine is clean, it is developing and it has medium intesity aromas of red fruits such as raspberry, red cherry and hints of cacao and coffee.

Palate: the wine is dry, it has medium + acidity and soft and ripe medium tannins and high alcohol. The body is medium + and the flavour intensity is medium + . The wine shows flavours of red fruits such as strawberries, raspeberry and cherry and herbal notes such as medicinal and vegetable flavours such as olives and animal flavours (leather).
the wine has medium + lenght

Assesement of quality: It is a very good wine, because it has a good concentration of primary aromas and it has complex aromas (also tertiary aromas from ageing such as the vegetal and animal notes). The wine is well balanced between alcohol and body and the tannins are well integrated and it has a long lenght. The finish is dominated by the vegetal aromas still not well integrated .It is a good example of Pinot Noir from the Chile, especially from this region, Casablanca Valley where the maritime influence of the Humboldt current helps the grapes to ripen slowly and develop complex aromas.

Method of production:The reserva wines are made from only the best grapes from the best vineyards. Wines are required to have at least 75% of a grape variety if it is to be consumed within Chile. If it is to be exported, it must contain 85% of the varietal listed on the label as well as at least 85% from the designated vintage year. The word reserva on the label has no legal definition or meaning.

Region of origin Casablanca Valley, Chile

Predominant grape variety: Pinot Noir

Readiness for drinking/potential for ageing: Can drink now, but it has potential for further ageing because the good level of acidity, alcohol and the developing vegetal aromas still now well integrated.

Approximate retail price: High Priced (£ 12 - £ 19 £)
