Saturday, March 16, 2013 - Decanted for about 1h and slowly drank over the following 3h. Still garnet but it's lightening up, not yet bricking or browning. Not sure what I had in the glass 18 months ago but this is now Brunello from head to toe (well perhaps there is a touch of Merlot..). Initially it even seems like a traditional style as it comes with a lot of earth, some floral notes and (not too much) red fruit. Later the palate changes considerably in the decanter, the wine gains weight and there is increasingly dark fruit, some oak, licquorice, and some dark chocolate. Fine to medium tannins and medium finish. A very nice Brunello which will last for many more years but not really a great one and QPR is just ok. 91-92
