Friday, March 20, 2015 - Pop and pour. Bouquet suggested lemon or lime zest with a hint of white flowers. Slightly subdued opening of apple and peach flavors, with a noticeable minerality on the mid-palate that suggests paving stone or slate. The zero malolactic fermentation that Forman is known for with his Chardonnays is apparent, with bright acidity keeping it crisp and fresh without buttery characteristics. Paired brilliantly with a soft and creamy Loire Valley Goat Cheese (Tomme de Ma Grand-Mere). Not as juicy or fruity as the Pahlmeyer 2012 Napa Valley Chardonnay, but also half the price. May still be borderline on QPR for some Chard drinkers since it's not quite a "stunner" and is still typically between $40 and $50, but if you prefer Chardonnay that has a taste profile that presents more citrus and bright acidity rather than being unctuous and buttery, this would be a solid choice.
