Saturday, February 6, 2016 - Drunk a dozen times since 2009. Was cheap en primeur thanks to a ridiculously low 88 points from Parker. The wine has always had a great nose, complexity and was approachable when young. What surprises me is how it is different every time and yet the wine is from the same two cases. In the past vanilla, plums, mocha, sweet blackcurrant, bitter cherries and liquorice, although not all from the same bottle. Always with a good tannic backbone and lots of soft fruit. This time with a nose of undergrowth giving way to meatiness, blackcurrant and liquorice. Excellent persistence on the finish. A lovely wine I suspect will continue to evolve although perfect now.
