90 Points

Wednesday, May 25, 2016 - Food: Japanese Shabu Shabu Sessyu Hong Kong
Condition: Perfect
Duration: 2 hours
Aroma: Dates, apricot, honey
Notes: despite the complexity of the number of grape varieties in Rhone valley as well as the wine making in the region I find rhone whites in general to be rather consistent. The 2004 L'oree was very thick and quite full bodied for a white, so heavy that it becomes a little similar to the texture of a Sautern. The aroma was quite attractive and similar to the same wine in other vintages but the palate I thought was a lot heavier than other vintages. I liked it but this is something that I cannot drink on a daily basis due to its weight.
