1996 Les Forts de Latour

Community Tasting Note

94 Points

Thursday, April 5, 2012 - At restaurant Chapon Fin in Bordeaux - as large-scaled a second wine as I've ever encountered. The tannins are still a bit sour and the wine needed 1.5 hrs. In a decanter to begin to show itself. Then a beautifully pure and still primary Les Forts thats full-bodied with rich dark fruit flavors and that wonderful earth/walnut taste that is so clearly Latour. No secondary flavor development yet but the terroir shows through beautifully and therefore it's a joy to drink now with meats and big dishes but it needs a few more years to reach maturity. Wish I had this in the cellar!
