Tuesday, January 27, 2015 - Serious funk and oxidation upon cork removal, but, as expected, all of that was gone after 2 hours in decanter. Still holding a med>med+ ruby core, no real sign of age. And while the acids and tannins are performing in line (i.e. quite well) with other well-grown 64s, the fruit on this is beginning to fade. The lighter side of medium-bodied now, with early notes of prunes and raisins ultimately giving way to calcareous soil and red berries after some time beyond the initial 2 hours. All in all, I like it for what it is, and I have to wonder what it was like at several points across its life; a fun ride. 13,5% abv. Drink now.
Served non-blind.
