Saturday, November 28, 2009 - I had this on May 29th 2009 and forgot to leave the note on CellarTracker.

Decanted for one hour. Beautiful purple, black with some blood-red. Amazing to look at. The nose is obtuse and quite proud. Pure cassis on the front end. There's blackberry pie, scorched earth, vanilla, and flowers. The aromatics are so pronounced and warming. Truly exceptional in that regard alone. The mouth; velvet heaven. Layer, upon layer of velvety tannins that are also round and approachable. Over all pleasure. This is the best Poyferre that I have ever had ('00, '01, '89 and '85). Some of the Claret enthusiasts might not like this voluptuous, velvety, cassis filled thrill-of-a-wine. Regardless, this is still Bordeaux-like in terms elegance and freshness. She is ripe yet still intellectually refined: A true paradox. Hard to not touch now, however, some time in the cellar would help the harmony even more. Drink 2011 -
