Saturday, May 18, 2013 - Birthday dinner gathering with 2003 wines (Hong Kong): Opaque, purple, almost dark in color. It took some time for the wine to open, a trend many quality St Juliens share. Aromas of black fruits, violet, floral, creamy vanilla and smoke. Entry to palate is so smooth, it almost glides straight thru to your throat, wonderfully balanced. 2003 vintage will never turn out to be classic Bordeaux, but some of those great wines are delicious and will please many wine drinkers now and down the road. 2003 LP is a prime example, smooth, balanced, subtle mouth feel, not overriped at all, with structure and tasty tannincs. True enjoyment.
