Thursday, June 4, 2015 - Dinner @ home; 6/4/2015-7/14/2015: Coravin 6/4/15: Medium-deep purple color without any bricking; nose has overripe candied cherry, plummy, very modern without much subtlety; palate is full bodied, very high alcohol/heat, moonshine cherry, light tannins barely noticeable, acidity is medium-high and keeps the wine feeling fresh even with so much alcohol; finish is medium length. This is very modern styled, and not that interesting to me. Would make an acceptable wine <$15, but at this price is poor. I don't see any reason to let it mature. 80
7/14/15: Deep purple; ripe plummy fruit similar to when first opened, a bit more complexity than last time with dustiness; medium bodied, alcohol seems maybe a bit better integrated than the first time but still high, integrated tannins are fairly light, ripe, but simple. Pleasant enough. 83-84 today. I was a bit harsh when first opened.
