Saturday, March 7, 2015 - Popped and slow ox'd for about 3 hours. Dark garnet color with a bit of fine sediment. Great nose right out of the gate with earthy, forest notes mixed with dark berry and currant fruit along with some cedar cigar box and charred oak. Ripe but not overdone on the palate with similar flavors of black currant, earthy fresh soil and really nice oak treatment. Medium acid, low to medium tannins with a silky mouthfeel and finish. There is no indication of heat or over ripeness in the wine at this point and this showed infinitely better than the bottle I had over 2 years ago. For me, this is drinking beautifully right now with a little air. Consensus WOTN among those tasting it.
