2004 Torbreck Shiraz The Struie

Community Tasting Note

93 Points

Sunday, November 18, 2012 - having tasted this a few times years ago, this is the first time that I didnt think that RP's rating of 96 (which btw was really RP and not JM) was a panacea. The colour is intense purple. The nose is really classy - sweet dark fruit making you think of plums and blackberries with a very slight hint of oak - a super nose. On the palate there is no way this is overdone (try Two Hands, Greenock Creek or Hentley Farm if you think this is big) with dark fruits, spices and tobacco. Medium/long finish. This will last but personally I would drink fairly soon (1-2 years) as in my experience Aussie shiraz ages in unpredictable manner. This is good now, why wait.
