Community Tasting Note

Friday, April 24, 2015 - Popped and poured, medium purple/ruby. Pronounced aromas immediately off the pop of smoked meats, Islay-peat, vegetal funk and all manner of savory weirdness. Within 15-20 minutes, the fruit emerges and shows raspberries, strawberries & watermelon along with notes of spicy vanilla bean, Kalamata olives, quality pot, hippy incense and cracked pepper. Flavors in mouth initially seem to show the influence of stem inclusion with a complex "greeness" permeating throughout. That said, just as aeration opened this aromatically the palate also unfurls with additional air into a complex amalgam of juicy red fruits, tobacco, savory funk and an undefinable, utterly ubiquitous element which defines the wines of this producer. Tannins are somewhat chewy as the finish sails on.
This is one of those wines you can smell across the room, worth opening right now if you have a few...just redonk.
