Friday, April 24, 2015 - Commanderie de Bordeaux dinner. I brought this as a pirate to the table to share among the 05's. Consistent with my last tasting note, it really delivered. Medium ruby with garnet rim. Expressive nose of cedar, cassis, toast and minerals, very complex, classic Medoc with animalic notes. On the palate this wine is medium bodied and elegant, no traces of the 2003 heat. Silky tannins and freshness, it's all there. A real surprise, simply outstanding. Together with the Margaux 2003 to me the best wine of this "more miss than hit" vintage.
