93 Points

Sunday, March 10, 2013 - Vinetasters-2003 Bordeaux (Holiday Inn, Niles IL): Nose: The nose is very perfumed with tones of red fruits, cherries, spices, floral tones, liqueur, cedar, and some campfire smoke. There is very good depth to this with an elegant touch as well.

Taste: Medium bodied with sneaky, but firm tannins. The tannins seem to bite more on the back end with silky tones of red fruits, cherries, liqueur, currants, floral tones, and some fresh picked berries.

Overall: This was my no.2. This was a very pleasant surprise and it showed extremely well. I would like to see where this is in another 5-8 years.

    An interesting event, doesn't it?
Despite I just have two bottles in common in my cellar, some of your favourites, Lascombes and Lafon-Rochet, I also think they're very young at this point.
By the way, did you found that heat anywhere? Just curious...
    Cheers,

They definitely showed the hot vintage in the tannins and the profile, but I didn't really come across it. I do also agree that the wines are still very young. Thankfully none of them were mine.
