Tuesday, February 8, 2011 - WineFanatic Southern Rhone Offline (Vancouver, BC): Decanted for 4 hours. Dark red in colour. A ripe and concentrated nose of roasted dark berries, stewed plums, black liquorice and herbs. Overall a sweet and roasted profile to this wine. Doesn’t taste or smell like Pegau I’ve ever had and comes across very modern, sweet and over extracted. At this stage this is an abomination of CdP and I’m saddened to see that I have many bottles left. It doesn’t surprise me that according to my previous TN on this wine, back in 2007, I really liked it—back then I was new to wine and was mainly drinking cheaper Auzzie reds…this would have fit right in. Maybe this will become something interesting in 10+ years but I’m not holding my breath. Very disappointing. Drinkable.
