Saturday, April 30, 2011 - Popped and poured into 2 375s and then let sit in the glass for 30 minutes before tasting. Gorgeous transparent dark red. Subdued nose of intense ripe dark fruits. After an hour, at first entry into the mouth, the wine is also subdued, once you get to mid palate and beyond, this wine explodes with intense candied fruit, with acids, tannin and alcohol all combining to give a heady blast of licorice, provencal herbs, iodine and meat. To me, not quite as good as the 2001 Pegau Reservee I had last night. I have a bunch more so I will age these awhile longer to see if they hit the sweet spot for my taste.
