Saturday, February 28, 2009 - Wow. Poured a little prior to decanting, and just amazing right out of the bottle. Cherries for sure, herbs, berries, balanced by a great earthiness. Tannins integrated but definitely with a dusty texture on the tongue. Let it decant for 4 hours. Cherries came out even more. Tannins are interesting--the dustiness is nearly gone, but now the fruit comes first with a bit of higher tannins, yet on the midpalate a sudden glycerin stage hits that completely counterbalances the tannins. There is a really soft, smooth, thick but not too thick texture to this wine. Just truly fabulous. So great to drink now, but this has years ahead of it. I would have to give it 94-95 now with huge potential for the future as well.
