Sunday, June 7, 2015 - On opening this is all secondary aromas and flavors; saddle leather, tobacco and very, very mature. With time in the decanter this began to show pretty blackberries on the nose and entry. The bretty, leathery aromas came into balance as well. With air the nose started to show blackberries, violets, and plum, backed by a savory and leathery base. The palate became interesting showing black fruits, leather, tobacco and cigar box. The non-fruit flavors come in a secondary wave making up the middle and backside/ finish. Not much for a gravelly note here. This was pleasant but certainly tired.
