Thursday, October 16, 2014 - Cork was soaked halfway. Popped and poured, and drank over 2 hours. The nose of dark cherry, leather, and funk was intoxicating; I couldn't keep my nose out of the glass. The palate was silky smooth. The fruit was so well balanced with earthiness, tobacco, and hints of licorice. Round tannins and a long finish that tells me that there is a long life ahead for this wine. Classic 1990s St. Julien Bordeaux. I will try to resist the urge to open another one of these for awhile.
