Friday, July 12, 2013 - Here is a wine that shows the importance of food pairing. This is a beast, concentrated, tannic, tart, structured, and the tannin, while ripe, is fuzzy and drying. On its own, you can sense that there's s lot of material here but it's hard to fully appreciate. Luckily, I paired this with duck confit, and wow -- suddenly the structure smoothed out, and the purity, concentration, and intensity of the fruit really showed through. Beguiling. Nowhere near ready to drink, though, and based on the fruit concentration and the imposing structure, this will last for decades yet,
