Thursday, September 15, 2016 - Château Gruaud-Larose Vertical (Knightsbridge and Abigail's): This is a true 'wow' wine with profound complexity, character and intensity. Outperformed more heralded vintages in the vertical, including 1982. Stunning, full nose has intoxicating depth and layers -- dried plum, cigar, tar, earth, green herb and bell pepper. The palate is similarly impressive with medium body, lively fruit and stunning depth. Ashy plum fruit and complex flavors that echo the nose. Tannins are fine and smooth. Long, lingering finish. A wine to snatch up if you can.
