Thursday, October 29, 2009 - Opened and decanted for a couple of hours prior. Showing some good red and fruits on the nose, with raspberries, cassis, and blackberries and dusty earth. The fruits also come through on the palate with raspberries, black currant mixing with cola and with drying tannins towards the medium finish. There was a tartness on the finish that was a little off putting when drinking alone but was less noticeable with food. Medium body and I thought lacked a little on the acid side. Less oak showing than some other Cakebreads that I have had (a good thing for me!). Decent cab that should be drunk now. Probably a little expensive for what you get as shows like a text book well made Napa or Washington cab that could be easily purchased for $20-30 less.
