Tuesday, June 16, 2015 - From Joseph Wagner's Copper Cane Wine portfolio. This is a new bottling for Beran in 2012 - a Napa Valley designated wine. As opposed to the more readily available Beran California Zinfandel, this wine is bigger and bolder with higher alcohol - 15.4% as compared to the 15.1% their California Zinfandel claims on the label.

Visually the wine is dense and clings to the glass. It is a blockbuster aromatically [and on the palate] with rich but not over-ripe fruit. Red and black licorice. Hoisin-glazed beef. Appealing pure fruit with low-medium acidity and a long finish. Overall, luscious and invites another sip.

Outstanding.

Pre-release sample.
