2005 Château Léoville Poyferré

Community Tasting Note

87 Points

Friday, October 8, 2010 - NC Cindy tasting. Very dark red color, still looks young. On the nose, very tight, but bits of cassis, black pepper, and mint. On the palate, solid cherry base, with nice structure and overall good balance, but just not very impressive depth of flavor. The finish is surprisingly short. I don't know if this is a dumb phase, but the wine as a whole is just not what I would expect from a 2em Cru Bordeaux from a very good year. If you have this, I would say hold on for a couple years and hope it gets better, but taste another one before you serve this at a special event.
