Friday, January 29, 2016 - The January auction Eiswein, with the old school (pre-95) label. This is absolutely spectacular, and more than lives up to the hype. Incredible power and concentration here, yet it's matched by tremendous precision, focus, and a sense of lightness on the palate that is completely at odds with the sheer intensity of the wine. The flavours are classic Eiswein; honey, high toned spices, and an array of candied citrus and peachy fruit with no apparent botrytis. The level of intensity here is hard to put into words, but each sip seems to resonate for minutes. Absolutely thrilling wine.
