Saturday, June 4, 2016 - Pop and pour from my bother in law's private stash at the NYC Opera Grand. Tier restaurant for my uncle's 80th birthday. Paul Draper is a genius. I am a Carlisle, Outpost, Black Sears guy, but you cannot deny that Ridge makes great Zin. According to CT, this is the only vintage. A wonderful blend of 84% Zin and 16% Petite Sirah. There is oak, generating creamy-ness but not overly intrusive and portends well for a decade from now. Fruit driven with a great mouth feel. Lots of red and black fruit. Meatyness. Lacks pepper spice from my favorites, but that's OK. No actual sugar but a bit less austere that the Carlisle valley Zins. The PS gives it very nice balance.
