Saturday, March 9, 2013 - Similar to last bottle: lighter ruby color, nose of schist and linear black raspberry and mulberry. Palate was shot full of iron and mineral, with layers of slightly sour cherry, raspberry, and licorice apparent. Stony finish. Was trying to cleanse my palate after an oak-laden Morey St. Denis from another producer earlier in the evening, and this surely did the job.

Well, it is now 48 hours later. I am sampling the remainder of the bottle and it is completely different. The nose is pumping briary flowers, almost searing raspberry scents, and fecund earth notes. The palate is exhibitng much more persistence and concentration but if anything there is more stony mineral as well. It is a complete wine. I'm thinking the wine is actually quite young yet. I am very impressed that I must wait another 3 to 5 years yet to sample the final bottle.
