Saturday, November 21, 2015 - Tasted at the winery. This is the oldest Finger Lakes riesling I've ever tasted and shows just how long a quality wine from this region will last. Floral, spice and minerals on the nose which was similar in profile to the 2014, but softer and yet, more complex aromatically. Soft fruit upfront with apple and varied tropical fruit, but the balancing acidity kept this firmly in the dry style. Medium bodied and fully smooth and integrated, the fruit was soft, rather than bright but the acidity balanced it perfectly so the wine felt complete rather than fading. Based on where the fruit and acidity are today, this wine should continue to drink at this level for another couple of years before it finally starts to fade.
