Thursday, October 29, 2015 - Annual Comparative Bordeaux Tasting (2000/2005) (Chicago, IL): ...along comes this disgusting concoction. This is an amorphous, shapeless blob, raised in >100% new oak, probably hitting something like 15% abv (I didn't care to check), tasting like it has 20 g/L of residual sugar, and made from sun-baked grapes. This wine is a parody of itself.

I read some of your other notes from the 10/29 tasting and you had the privilege of tasting some phenomenal wines. Perhaps your palate was a bit tired when you got to the Pavie?

10/30/2015 3:27:00 PM - I, too, would like to know how you scored each point category for this wine. Was the amount of oak not sufficient? Was it of inadequate quality? Were the grapes not ripe enough for a proper "tour de force" of winemaking?

I know ... then imagine how tired his palate was AFTER the Pavie flight. That's a lot of heavy lifting. LOL!

10/31/2015 6:30:00 AM - A.S. - I think the problem people are having is that you had the wine in the wrong category, and thus are rating it unfairly. With the amount of R.S. in the wine, you need to consider it a Feinherb.
