Saturday, December 31, 2011 - New year's eve dinner, bottle was opened an hour before drinking over the next couple hours. A dense and massive wine which hints at its potential, but remained somewhat unyielding during the time we gave it. Dark, concentrated black fruit, mocha, toasted oak, spice, with a nose to go along with it.

I can see how its approaching a napa-like quality, but not candied by any means. I did not get a good sense of its Pauillac nature ("graphite"?) compared with the 04 at this stage ... perhaps that'll come with age. There's is no hint of hotness and everything is in balance. Hands off the rest for many years!
