Wednesday, August 8, 2007 - At Valencia, Norwalk, CT, with grilled hangar steak and mushrooms. Forward nose, very oaky, with lots of cedar, vanilla and spice covering the ripe black cherry fruit. On the palate, lush and full, but lacking a middle right now. The flavors are spot on for a ripe, jammy style of Pinot, with good tannins and acidity, and the alcohol (14.5%) is in check. Seems like it just needs some time to bring everything together. Hold off until 2009-2016.
