Friday, October 23, 2009 - WFA Bordeaux 2005/2006 Tasting by the Wine Review (Suntec Convention Centre, Singapore): Another top-class Pauillac. This easily stood toe-to-toe with the pair of Pichons. Deep, masculilne nose showed ripe plum and cassis fruit along with a whiff of gunpowder. Palate was probably the best balanced of all the 2005 wines I tried. Great poise, with clean, pure cassis tones and some savoury meat laced through with fresh acidity and fine tannins. Very fine indeed. Finish was nice and rounded, with bits of flint and a touch of spice. I liked this. Needs some time, but will be lovely.
