2005 Château Lynch-Bages

Community Tasting Note

Saturday, August 15, 2015 - Boy does this wine and vintage require serious decanting, 3-4 hours minimum recommended. Typical nose of 2005 with an explosion of cassis and deep dark red fruits, lots of lead pencil, and cedar. On the palate very dense and powerful but this wine is ages from its maturity. Judging by the 82, this wine has another 15-20 years to go before reaching its summit. Incredible power, full bodied, mineral, fruit bomb mid palate with lead pencil / graphite dominant, very masculine, excellent acidity and backbone, finishes decently long with tannins only balanced by the intensity of the fruit. Still a baby, lots of patience required.

8/15/2015 8:15:00 PM - Thanks for the note and rating. Thanks, we thought the same when we cracked open our case last year and tried again this year. Nice, powerful fruit, but we probably will not re-visit for another 5+ years. Barely legal now, but we agree with you she will blossom into a mature lady worthy of a twirl around the dance floor...
