2000 Château Pontet-Canet

Community Tasting Note

90 Points

Saturday, June 12, 2010 - Very deep color and closer to brick than I thought. Great nose with vegetal/olive elements, smoke, clove, and funk. The initial fruit is on the red side but hidden somewhat. The acidity and tannins are perfectly balanced and the wine has smoothed out enough to drink, with a very long, slightly bitter finish. Interesting stuff, great QPR, just would like to see more fruit and a more complex midpalate. I'm expecting good things in 2015 when I break out another.
