Tuesday, November 8, 2011 - Damn yummy at first with a gorgeous claret nose. With air thirty minutes later the wine tensed up a little and thinned. There is a pleasant green chocolate feel to this wine which at times is nearly billowy with a luscious but firm fruit attack, and then it oscillates toward thin and watery with clipped fruit and a little dog fennel. I like the wine for the most part. Is this a great vintage or something like 1988? Probably nearer the latter. The wine just gets worse and worse as it sits in the bottle.
Later: I am alarmed by the roasted/ green coffee bean quality of this wine.
