7/26/2013 11:12:00 PM - How do you get a 93 with tart tart tart and medium finish? This wine is rather shut down by most reviewers.

7/27/2013 6:00:00 AM - I'm having trouble understanding your comment, Kdog. My TN did not say "tart tart tart." "Tart black currant" and "tart blackberry" are pretty typical descriptors for Cab Sauv based blends and not at all negative, as far as I'm concerned. The TN also says "medium-plus finish" not "medium finish." Are you in the habit of misquoting a wine reviewer and then asking him or her why they gave a score based on your complete misquoting? What a peculiar way to occupy yourself.

At any rate, I'm the most recent professional reviewer of this wine by far (I think the other most recent review goes back to '08), and I think it's in a good place now. Did you hate it recently or something?

8/10/2013 10:52:00 AM - Hi Richard, I was a little at odds with your reviews on the '05 Haut Bages Lib, tasted twice and disappointed both times. I was maybe a little impulsively grumpy when I commented. Anyway their have been some more favorable reviews recently so I should just have more hope for my remaining bottles. I looked you up online to check out your literature, and I just wanted to say your articles on Santa Barbara County were really wonderful. Full disclosure, I do love the area but I think your reviews were pretty solid all around and it was terrific to read in depth articles that other wine journals dont dig into concerning SBC. The wine there is amazing, cant wait to be 5-10 more years down the road to see it develop. Your especially correct on Pres'quile, for a first vintage their stuff blew me away. Cheers and look forward to reading future articles.

    8/10/2013 10:56:00 AM - Kdog,
Thanks for following up. Thank you also for the very kind words on my Santa Barbara pieces. Sounds like we're both excited about the region. I'm headed back for another week of tastings there at the end of this month. Great stuff!
