Saturday, May 9, 2015 - WSET Level 4 Course - WSET School; 9/6/2014-5/23/2015 (WSET School, Bermondsey): Appearance: The wine is Clear with a Deep ruby colour.
Nose: The nose is Clean and Developing, showing Medium(+) intensity primary aromas of blackcurrant, black plum, blackberry, green bell pepper(capsicum) , secondary aromas of toast, smoke, cloves, vanilla, nutmeg and tertiary aromas of earth, mushroom.
Palate: The wine is Dry in the mouth with a High level of acidity. It has High firm chalky tannins and a Medium Level of alcohol (13.00%). It has Medium(+) body and Medium(+) intensity primary flavours of blackcurrant, blackberry, black plum, green bell pepper(capsicum) , secondary flavours of toast, smoke, nutmeg, cloves, vanilla and tertiary flavours of mushroom, earth. The finish is Medium(+). It has chalky firm tannins.
Overall: Good concentration, complexity and length.
Conclusion: It is a Very Good quality wine. Can Drink Now but has Potential for Ageing Quite young still, has the structure to improve with further ageing 10 - 15 years; Premium priced (£36.00)
