90 Points

Saturday, January 12, 2013 - Lots of cassis and black/ blue fruit that's not overly sweet. There's a fair amount of chocolate and osk spice but also some gravelly/ earthy flavors. The fruit is unmistakably napa but it's well balanced and not plush. The oak is well integrated texturally gives the wine a creamy feel. Tannins are fine grained but substantial and this is better with beef than alone. Drinking well in its adolescence but no rush here I think.
