Monday, February 10, 2014 - Bordeaux / Bordeaux Blends with new friends (Extra Space): From a pop & pour bottle. Tasted blind. Dark brown colour with very slight bricking at the edge. Strong classic Bordeaux nose. On the palate, savoury flavours of blackcurrant and blueberry with just a slight hint of greeness from the Cab Sauv. Tannins nicely settled and smooth. Medium finish. Evolved over the next 60-90mins. Some smokey notes, sweet wood ?cedar, tobacco/graphite. The savoury fruits got sweeter and sweeter and tasted pretty damm good at 90mins. Alas, by then we reached the bottom of the bottle and hit the sediments.
I guessed about 15-20 year old Left Bank Bordeaux. Good Bordeaux, fruits still quite alive after 29 years in this bottle.
