90 Points

Sunday, May 17, 2015 - this is the 4th of a case bought en premier and the comments are listed represent an assessment over several hours. It started and stayed a leafy and tart and somewhat dilute tasting cabernet. Actually the depth and richness at the back with the palate cleansing lightness on the front make it refreshing and enjoyable quoif giving it a solid 87 but after more air and excellent food -in this case roasted cornish hen- definitely rounded and fleshed out to be in the 90+ range …. however , if you were lookng for the kind heft and gravitas that Montrose is known for you might feel jipped. I spent around $60 en premier for a case I will enjoy it as a wine for what it is but have not really found it to deliver the marquis qualities expected on the label or the $s spent + time in my cellar
