Tuesday, August 1, 2006 - Leave it to the HSS to prove that 2000 wasn't a loss for all the Napa Cabs. Can't ever go too wrong with the HSS. We decanted for three hours... Somewhat reticent nose of licorice and leather notes. Took some coaxing to get the nose on this...Nice hit of sweet fruit, earth, and cassis right up front on the palate, but a tad hot on the back end. Finishes with a sweet blueberry-vanilla bean flavor that lingers for a while. I think it could stand 5 more years easily, but it's approachable now and doesn't apear to be packing much beyond what we got tonight. Not that you need me to tell ya, but the weakest of the five HSS I've had including '95-'98.
