Saturday, November 12, 2011 - One of the most profoundly great wines I've ever had.
Brownish tinge.
Nose starting up with a mix of cassis galore and a terrible funk of ashtray. Cleaning itself up as the evening went by.
In the mouth a superior concentration with balance that really makes you weep and a mouthwatering taste of otherworldly class. The concentration of the fruit is amazing. It is perfectly mature with melted tannins and ... all the best good things of a mature classic syrah with a painfully stylish attack-midpalate-finish and length of maybe 60 seconds. I've always loved the great La Chapelle wines.
Should have been properly decanted.
