2004 Hanzell Chardonnay

Community Tasting Note

93 Points

Tuesday, May 8, 2012 - What a wine! Bright citrus fruits, nice medium color, and a taste that literally made the back undersides of my tongue salivate... something I rarely experience with chardonnay. Not too sweet or overpowering, just a fresh blast of light fruit. Previous tastings from a couple of years ago were good; however, I've now waited the recommended 2012 year of age, and the result was outstanding. This evening was also a test for going well beyond the minimum recommended cellar time for an '03 Bond Melbury that we rated an outstanding 95 tonight. Patience paid off in both cases, and I see more years left at peak for both wines.
