91 Points

Friday, March 22, 2013 - First one of these in two years, and it's as beautiful as ever. Absolutely knock out aromas that remind me why I fell in love with this wine with expressive honey scented flowers, heavy on the sweet graphite, fantastic cherry, pomegranate, and tar. One of the finest scents I've come across in a Chianti. Palate is intense, showing sweet cherry and pomegranate again, with a pervasive grittiness and overwhelming intensity. Feels way younger than the last bottle I had, actually. Gritty texture and dry mouth feel on the finish, with slightly more mature flavors lingering, but still pretty intense with acidity and tannin. This wine's tasting a bit better than the last, and certainly more primary. This one's begging for food. Interesting... I'm back to thinking I'll hold my remaining bottles for a bit of time. This shows no notion that it's 9 years old...
