Saturday, December 30, 2006 - Very dense purple color. Rich, deep nose of black fruits. Initial taste seems to be saline in its intensity, with hints of oak and tannins. The fruit is huge, and this is indeed a very fine wine, but I'm not sure it's quite as complex as it is made out to be. The 1997 Drouhin Clos de la Roche I had early this year seemed, for example, to have a richer set of aromas. This seemed a bit more single-dimensioned, but much more powerful. It also seems to be a young wine, in need of a few years to settle. All in all, this was a delicious wine.
