Friday, October 10, 2008 - Bacchus blind tasting (My place): Black color with a thin purple rim. Intense nose with lots of fruit, blueberry, blackberry and very ripe cherries, notes of blackcurrant liqueur, sweet licorise, pepper, gunpowder and ammonium chloride. Insanely full-bodied and concentrated on the palate. Super powered, new world, fruit - dark and brooding, with lots of sweetness. On the midpalate sweet licorise and a note of bitterness. Ends with a good tannic grip, that is well integrated underneath the liqueur and candied fruit finish. This wine is full-throtle, but superbly balanced. Give it time, and it should become more refined - everything else is already there.
