Saturday, June 9, 2012 - Acker Merrall June 2012 Chicago Auction (Waldorf Astoria - Chicago IL): I haven't always enjoyed this wine, but am excited on its trajectory based on today's performance. Blackberry and plum aromas with lots of toast, oak and liqueur. Same dense, ripe black fruit along with good smoky, gamy meat flavors. Good black pepper and licorice as well. Great length and more balance than i ever recall from previous times I've tried this wine. Still a bit too sweet today, also with some baby fat that still needs to integrate, but I like where this is going.
