Thursday, December 25, 2008 - Typical brett filled skunk of a Bordeaux of a certain age of a certain place...and it makes me wretch. Fortunately, this stops short of brett-wretch, but still, all respect to CT's host, brett is a flaw and this stuff has it in spades. One wonders how this would be without the brett because it seems to have some nice lively (12-year old?) fruit and a bit of mint (Martha's?) and even some earth, not "terrior (ie-brett)' but a nice earthy resonance. But the brett gets in the way and there is nothing worse than storing a wine for 10 years and having it smell and taste like horse dung on a hot day. Fortunately, newer Bordeaux's have cleaned up their act at least a bit. Now if we can just get the Rhone to follow suit.
